Who We Are

Healthabitat acknowledges...

…that any successes achieved through the Housing for Health program since 1985, nationally and internationally, has come from the efforts of literally thousands of people.
Who We Are
A Paul Pholeros sketch of the HH Organisational Structure, originally for the Venice Biennale

Healthabitat works with local communities to improve the health of people living in poverty, by using data to fix and advocate for better housing.

Healthabitat is a not-for-profit company governed by a board of directors who draw upon the experience of a dedicated team who have worked on HfH projects over many years.

People directly involved in projects include managers, tradespeople, team leaders, research and development managers, federal, state and regional government agency staff, community staff and management and funding partners, as well as those indirectly involved in supporting the program such as those developing systems, data analysis, office management, legal and accounting staff.

Most importantly the efforts of the many community members who have participated in the projects, including all Housing for Health team members and residents who allow the project to enter their houses, many scarred from generations of broken promises and red tape. Their contributions are acknowledged.

Timeline

In 1985 the three directors, of what years later was to become Healthabitat were initially ‘thrown’ together by the late Yami Lester OAM, at the time, Director of Nganampa Health Council with a simple yet profound brief…” stop people getting sick” or “Uwankara Palyanku Kanyintjaku” (UPK) in the local language.
